About WIMSTA

WIMSTA is a set of free, in-browser body-composition calculators — body fat, BMI, waist-to-height, heart-rate zones, protein, body surface area and more. Each one runs several published, verified formulas and shows you the honest range they agree on, with each formula’s own published error — instead of one falsely precise number.

Who builds it

The formulas here were selected and implemented by WIMSTA — thirteen years and twenty-one calculators building body-composition tools. That is experience, not a medical credential, and we are precise about the difference: knowing which equations to trust, where they break, and how to show their uncertainty honestly is a craft we’ve practised for a long time. It is not the same thing as a clinician’s sign-off, and we won’t pretend it is.

Why there’s no doctor’s name on your result

We could borrow a physician’s name to make the numbers feel authoritative. We don’t. Every formula WIMSTA runs is traceable instead: its peer-reviewed source (with a DOI where one exists), the population it was built on, and its published error are all laid out on the method page and in the open formula registry. Provenance you can check beats a byline you have to trust.

If and when a qualified clinician reviews the methodology, we will name them here — with their credential, and only then. Until that’s true, we’d rather leave the space honest than fill it for reassurance.

What WIMSTA is not

  • Not a medical device, and not a diagnosis. Every result is an estimate.
  • Not a substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare professional.
  • Not for children, teenagers or pregnancy — this is an 18+ tool.
  • Not a scale of worth. A body-fat band is a population statistic, not a verdict on you.
